It's all about Jude...

My name is Jude Dibia. I was born some time in the mid 70's in Lagos city where I grew up to all the wondeful sights, sounds and smells the city had to offer. Writing for me had always been my greatest passion as well as reading.

Growing up in Nigeria has its challenges especially if you have four brothers and rather strict parents, but it was good majority of the time. We lived in Warri for a while before moving back to join our father in Lagos and till date the only picture of childhood I have in my head has only Lagos as a location.

Writing 'Walking With Shadows':

Many people have asked me how I came up with the plot of WWS as well as how long it took me to write my story. The answers are quite simple really. No one in Nigeria to my knowledge has ever written anything with a gay character as the protagonist neither has any of our writers ever tried to explore the the 'gay' theme. Nigeria is arguably the largest black nation in Africa and with the sheer number of people, one can only imagine the number of gay/bisexual people in the society, many of whom are living a false life or living in denial.

WWS took me about a year to write but putting the whole story together took about two years.
